Applying for Proof of Course Audit
【Introduction】
Students’ conduct points will be deducted when they are absent from class; effectively student enrollment number management is important; and students must attend class in accordance with their actual enrollments. With these and other considerations in mind, if you as a student are marked absent for a class you are enrolled in due to auditing another class, you can have your absence canceled via the following process. First, bring a Proof of Audit Attendance During Add-Drop Period to the instructor of the course you’re auditing. Once the instructor signs the form, bring it to the Office of Student Affairs' Student Counseling Division, to have the absence canceled.
【Example Situation】
Student A has enrolled in a General Education elective, Literary Appreciation. This course is scheduled for the Thursday 5-6 timeslot. Another course, Introduction to Astronomy, is scheduled during the same timeslot. During the add-drop period, Student A audits Introduction to Astronomy to better understand if the course is one they’d like to take. However, Student A is worried that the resulting marked absence from going to audit Introduction to Astronomy because of his or her absence from Literary Appreciation will affect their conduct grade.
【Example Resolution】
Given Student A’s example above, the student has already enrolled in Literary Appreciation, but is also curious about Introduction to Astronomy. Student A therefore follows this procedure:
1. Student A downloads the Proof of Audit Attendance During Add-Drop Period, and fills out their personal information on the form.
2. Student A then audits Introduction to Astronomy. Student A asks the instructor for their signature on the proof of audit.
3. Student A then retains the signed proof of audit. After a week, Student A goes to the Student Information Portal to check if they have been marked absent for the class. In our example, let’s say that Student A has been marked absent. Student A then brings the proof of audit to the Office of Student Affairs' Student Counseling Division and gets the absence canceled.
